Author: Hans Philip Eide, Data Protection Officer (personvernombud) Document Owner: Odda Digital System AS Audience: Website visitors Effective date: 25 May 2026 Version: 001
This policy describes the cookies and similar tracking technologies (collectively, "cookies") used on visualtracking.no and any other domain on which Odda Digital System publishes content related to the Visual Tracking Service. It accompanies our Privacy Notice, which describes how we process personal data more broadly.
This policy is published under § 2-7b of the Norwegian Electronic Communications Act (ekomloven, lov om elektronisk kommunikasjon) and Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive as implemented in Norway.
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device through your web browser. Cookies let a site remember information about your visit (preferences, login state, analytics) across pages and between visits. Similar technologies (local storage, pixel tags, fingerprinting scripts) serve the same purpose and are treated here as cookies for clarity.
We classify cookies into three categories:
| Category | Purpose | Consent required |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Make the site work: routing, security, load balancing, your cookie-consent choice itself | No (Article 5(3) ePrivacy: necessary for the service explicitly requested by the user) |
| Functional | Remember your preferences (language, region) so you do not have to set them again | Yes, before being set |
| Analytics | Aggregate, pseudonymised statistics on how the site is used, to help us improve content | Yes, before being set |
We do not use advertising, retargeting, or social-media-tracking cookies.
The following cookies may be set on your device when you visit our website.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
cookie_consent | Odda Digital System (first-party) | Stores your cookie-consent choice so we do not ask again on every page | 12 months |
csrf_token | Odda Digital System (first-party) | Cross-site request forgery protection on form submissions | Session |
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
preferred_language | Odda Digital System (first-party) | Remembers your preferred site language between visits | 12 months |

_ga | Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited) | Distinguishes unique visitors, with IP address anonymisation enabled | 2 years (Google default; we have not extended it) |
_ga_<container> | Google Analytics 4 | Stores session state for the Analytics property | 2 years |
_gid | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes users for a 24-hour analytics session | 24 hours |
Google Analytics is configured with IP address anonymisation enabled (the last octet of IPv4 / last 80 bits of IPv6 are dropped before storage). Data sharing settings for Google products and benchmarking are disabled. Google's processing is described in policies.google.com/technologies/cookies.
When you first visit the website, you are presented with a cookie consent banner. The banner lists the categories (Strictly necessary, Functional, Analytics) and lets you accept, reject, or customise. Strictly necessary cookies are set regardless of your choice because they are required for the site to function (Article 5(3) ePrivacy exemption). All other cookies are set only after you give consent.
Your consent choice is stored in the cookie_consent cookie (Section 4.1) and remembered for 12 months. After 12 months, or sooner if our cookie inventory materially changes, we will ask again.
You can change your consent choice at any time by:
cookie_consent cookie, so the banner will reappear on your next visit)If you withdraw consent for analytics cookies, the cookies already set will remain on your device until they expire or you delete them. Future analytics events will not be recorded.
All modern browsers let you view, manage, and delete cookies. Detailed instructions:
Some site features depend on functional cookies and may not work as expected if you block them.
Cookies set by third parties (Section 4.3) involve the transmission of usage data to those parties for processing. The third parties are our Sub-processors for analytics processing — see the Sub-processor list for the full disclosure, including processing locations and transfer mechanisms.
If we add, remove, or change cookies materially, we will update this policy and ask for fresh consent through the cookie banner. The effective date at the top of this policy shows when the current version took effect.
